VOLUNTEERING AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Clay County Clothes Closet always needs helping hands. Whether you’d like to sort or size clothing, assist children/adults in selecting clothing, restock the closet, or share with a specific skill or expertise … we value you! The gift of your time and service is greatly appreciated. We welcome all volunteers to help carry out our mission and ask that you consider joining us.
READY TO HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Take a moment to find a volunteer opportunity that fits you best.
Clothing Selection Assistants are our front of house volunteers. They work one-on-one with individuals coming in to receive clothing and assist clients during their clothing selection process.
This volunteering opportunity takes place at the same time as our serving schedule hours:
- Tuesdays: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- First Saturday of each month: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
If you have a passion for organization and prefer to help behind the scenes, this might be the perfect way for you to participate. Volunteers in this role don’t have to take on a public facing role. We receive small mountains of jumbled up and mixed batches of donated clothing every week and we rely on our clothing management volunteers to quality control, sort, size, and store incoming clothing donations.
This volunteering opportunity takes place weekly on:
- Wednesdays: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
The restock volunteer role is a behind the scenes support role. Client serving room shelves/racks get a bit thin after service days and we rely on our restock volunteer team to identify depleted areas and restock them from sorted and stored clothing reserves to ensure the next service day goes smoothly efficiently, and that clothing of all sizes is available for clients.
This volunteering opportunity takes place weekly on:
- Fridays: 9:00 AM – 12:30 AM
If you have a unique professional skill set and want to donate your services to the cause, we want to speak with you. We rely on volunteers for everything! Some of the professional expert skills we need include:
- Grant Writing
- Fundraising
- Public Speaking
- Website Management
- Social Media (Facebook/Twitter)
